Maca powder originates from the Maca root which has been used in Peru for many thousands of years. Maca root contains significant amounts of amino acids, carbohydrates and minerals such as calcium, zinc, magnesium and iron. Maca also contains vitamins B1, B2, B12, C and E.
The Maca root is related to the potato root and is widely used in Peru to boost energy levels, strengthen mental health and balance hormones in the body (by stimulating the pituitary gland). Maca also contains compounds that increase stamina and muscle mass and for this reason it is often used as a supplement during training. In Peru, Maca is referred to as the “Peruvian Viagra” due to its effect of increasing libido for both men and women.
